how journaling changed my life
11 October 2017
Journaling has been one of those things that I did a few years ago, but soon it started re-surfacing on the internet, especially on YouTube with all the bullet journaling videos. It has always been a huge passion of mine, and since starting a bullet journal last year, it’s been something that’s come into my life and just stayed for a really long time.
Journalling has given so much clarity in life. Not only has my creativity been brought out, but I feel inspired every day. I feel the need to create a piece of art every day. And I see all these videos on YouTube and it just makes me want to blog even more. I think the origin of me wanting to start a bullet journal came from this video I stumbled across that featured a notebook where the person added page numbers on the bottom and a hand done index on the front. And it got me thinking, ‘hey, I want to do that’. And that’s exactly what I did. I started a bullet journal.
And definitely morning pages has been something that’s constantly in my life. I started this year, it was actually one of my goals for this year, and it’s been something I can go to and write down all those deep thoughts that I could never get out of my system and tell anyone ever. It’s been something I can rely on for comfort. Aileen from LAVENDAIRE actually inspired my want to start morning pages and so far since starting in January this year, I have already finished three books, halfway onto my fourth. Essentially morning pages is where you write three pages worth of whatever you’re thinking. You have a time limit of 30 minutes, and during that time, you get as much as you can within that time limit.
And to answer the question, journaling has given me a sense of direction, a purpose, a meaning in life. It’s given me so much clarity in life and I’ve learnt lessons such as: courage, bravery, what it means to be a women in the 21st century, love, loss, happiness, grief, heart-break and so much more. Basically I’ve gone through almost a life cycle of life’s lessons.
